Country Furnishings provide a made to measure service on Curtains, Blinds and Shutters.
From sourcing fabrics, measuring and making up to the fitting and installation, we supply handmade curtains and blinds, cushions, other soft furnishings and upholstery. We pride ourselves on fully understanding your vision and turning it into reality, tailoring our work to the needs of each individual client. We consider it our job to identify any challenges/issues and work around them, guaranteeing a truly bespoke and personal service.
Whether you are looking for a simple Roman blind and already have your own fabric, or would like an upholstered footstool made to a specific design and dimensions, we can help. It is our job to make the process easy and stress free. Each item is handmade locally using traditional methods and with the expertise gained from years of experience.

Curtains
We offer high quality, made-to-measure curtains which are beautifully hand made, using traditional techniques. You can choose everything from the fabric to the heading and linings. We will guide you through the design process.
Blinds & Shutters
We produce or source all types of blinds, from hand sewn Roman and London blinds, to roller blinds, Venetians and also Shutters in any colour. We can also advise on the most suitable blind for your space and colour scheme.
Cushions
Indoor, outdoor, box, scatter and bolster cushions: we make every type. All are beautifully made with great attention to detail and we are always to help with fabric choices to ensure they complement your scheme/room perfectly.
Bed Valances & Other Soft Furnishings.
We also make bed valances & other soft furnishings such as eiderdowns, bedspreads, tiebacks and lampshades. Get in touch to find out more.
Curtains
Curtains can be made in many different styles and lengths. They can be hung from poles or tracks, have taped or hand made headings, and can be unlined, lined or interlined. Available space, light, style and budget will all have a bearing.
We have years of experience in design, fabric knowledge and manufacturing capability to produce curtains of every type to meet the particular brief of our clients, prioritising quality, attention to detail and craftsmanship. The process can be split into six main steps as outlined below:
1. Measuring / Initial Consultation
We’ll visit you to find out exactly what you require. We’ll take measurements while we are there, talk you through the options available and can also bring a few fabric ideas to get you started.
Alternatively, if distance makes this difficult or it would be more convenient for you then we are happy to talk through how to accurately measure over the phone.
2. Choose your fabric
Our real passion is fabrics. We work with all the leading fabric houses and are constantly building on our collection and expanding our knowledge. We are always happy to help source fabrics and can send samples of fabrics to help you decide so do get in touch if you’d like some help.
3. Choose the Curtain Heading
You can choose between several different headings, the most popular ones below. There are lots of different curtain headings to choose from so if there is a particular style you have in mind that is not listed, then let us know.
Triple pinch pleat
Triple pinch pleat headings are our most popular style and give a smart, polished feel. This style fits just as well in both contemporary and traditional interiors.
Double Pinch Pleat
Double pinch pleat headings give a very similar look to triple pinch pleats but can stack back more neatly and are therefore popular where less space is available.
Gathered with a standup
These are perfect for a more informal, softer feel.
4. Decide on the details
You can choose simply to line your curtains with a plain lining, use a contrast lining (a ticking stripe for example) or use blackout lining to eliminate the light (this is particularly popular in bedrooms). We also recommend interlining curtains. We use only the best quality linings and interlinings and are happy to send you a sample.
You will also need to decide on a hanging system. We can recommend, supply and install a full range of curtain poles from custom made to off the shelf and to suit all budgets and design briefs, both automated and manual.
Curtain tracks are sourced from a number of manufacturers where we can guarantee the best quality. And our pelmets and lath and fascias are templated and custom made for a perfect fit. We will discuss the options with you and provide you with any samples required.
5. Making up
When all details have been discussed and decided on we will send you an estimate. If you choose to go ahead then we ask for a deposit before ordering fabrics and getting started.
6. Delivery and timings
Your bespoke items will be delivered to you within 6 weeks of ordering unless the fabric is not in stock. We can either deliver the finished article direct to you or arrange for our fitters to expertly hang them for you.
Our fitters cover Greater London and large areas of the South East and South West. If you live elsewhere please get in touch to discuss your individual requirements.

Roman Blinds
These are our most popular style and give a smart, polished feel.
Roller Blinds
Roller blinds can either be made in customers’ own fabrics or using pre-stiffened fabric range (blackout, opaque or sheer), samples of which can be sent. All roller blinds are available with sidewinder chain mechanisms which come in a variety of finishes.
Shutters
We can supply made to measure wooden shutters. A number of different styles are available, please do ask for more information.
Venetian Blinds
We can supply made to measure wooden Venetian blinds, available in a variety of colours and stains. They can be made with ladder cords or ladder tapes, also available in a variety of colours.

For Roman blinds you can choose simply to line your blinds with a plain lining, use a contrast lining (a ticking stripe for example) or use blackout lining to eliminate the light (this is particularly popular in Bedrooms). We also recommend interlining blinds. We use only the best quality linings and interlinings and are happy to send you a sample.
A contrast fabric or beaded/pom pom trim can also be used for added impact.
You will also need to decide on a hanging system. We supply and install headrails and fabric covered batons, both of which comply with current child safety regulations.
5. Making up
When all details have been discussed and decided on we will send you an estimate. If you choose to go ahead then we ask for a deposit before ordering fabrics and getting started.

Cushions

All are beautifully made with great attention to detail and we are always on hand to help with fabric choices to ensure they complement your scheme/room perfectly. We can supply cushions with feather, down or fibre according to the brief. All are made with invisible zips and can be piped or trimmed.
Box cushions can be made to any thickness and awkward spaces are templated to ensure a perfect fit. Please do get in touch with us to discuss your individual requirements.
Bed Valances & Other Soft Furnishings.
You can either opt for a kick pleat bed valance or a gathered valance. Either really finishes off a Bedroom scheme beautifully. They are all tailor made to fit each bed perfectly and are lined. We also design eiderdowns, bedspreads, tiebacks and lampshades.
